A Dialogue on Art and Sustainability Education

We were honored to welcome former NCKU President, Professor Su Huey-Jen, and colleagues for a visit to the “Gateway to Taiwan: Island Tales” public art project.

Through discussions on our creative process and the airport installation, we shared how art can connect people, places, and stories rooted in Taiwan’s cultural memory.

Prof. Su’s dedication to sustainability, public space, and humanistic values has long been an inspiration to us. During our conversation, she reminded us that the value of public art lies not only in the work itself, but also in its ability to foster dialogue and connection.

Coincidentally, Prof. Cho and Prof. Su have literally crossed paths twice during their travels to the UK and US recently, making this proper reunion all the more meaningful.

To us, artworks are more than outcomes—they are a meeting point for different experiences and values. As a small studio, we will continue exploring land, culture, and public engagement through our work.
