4/17 Beyond Transit: Art, Architecture, and Culture in Airports

Thank you to everyone who joined us in person, arriving with curiosity and imagination. The atmosphere was intimate and meaningful, and meeting long-time supporters reaffirmed our belief that public art can leave a lasting imprint on Taiwanese culture and society.

We were especially moved to meet the participants of the ‘100 Reasons to Fly’. Their interpretations of ‘flight’ reminded us that public art is not only to be seen, but considered and reimagined.

We also received thoughtful reflections from the audience, such as how each color and shape holds emotions and blessings, and how art at the nation’s gateway can travel with people.

‘Gateway to Taiwan: Island Tales’ is more than a visual installation—it is a translation of land and lived experience. At the nation’s gateway, it accompanies departures and welcomes returns, becoming a memory that can be carried and felt again.

We sincerely thank the speakers, including Dr. Yen-Ting Cho, Wen-Chih Hsu (Director, SW Design), and Peter Harrison. Special thanks to Ms. Zhang from the airport and Hsiang-Teng Shih (Director, SW Design) for their support.

We will keep sharing reflections and updates through our website and social media. Thank you to everyone who has so far stepped into ‘Gateway to Taiwan: Island Tales.’
